What’s Your Relationship with Money?

What is your relationship with money? Is it your dirty little secret or is it your hot date you can't wait to show off? Is it on again and off again or are you in a long-term, committed marriage? Do you feel worthy of it or do you need constant reassurance you deserve to be together?

Like so many other relationships in life, we begin forming our relationship with money as a child. Usually, it’s based on our parent’s money relationship. Was money something that was never discussed with children in your household or was money (and money troubles) talked about openly? Did you receive an allowance or did you get to do “jobs” around the house for pay, or was your pay simply having a place to live? Whether it’s good or bad our relationship with money starts young. As we grow older and begin to have our own experiences, we begin to form an evolved belief system.

The reason I’m telling you this is because your relationship with money directly affects how well you do in sales. I know that’s hard to hear, but it's the truth! Do you need money but HATE that you need it? Do you feel guilty when you have an excess because there are those who have none? Do you feel unworthy of having money or nice things? Do you have money but hate spending it?

All of these things have a subconscious pull every time you’re on a sales call. The energy you portray when you hate spending will be directly reflected by your customer. If you hate spending money how can you ask them to spend??? If we don’t feel worthy of having money of getting more than we NEED how can we ask someone to give us that in the form of a sale?

If you really want to be successful and you really want to grow, you’re going to have to fix your relationship with money. You’re going to need to sit down, have that long, hard talk with yourself (and your wallet), ask yourself why. Why do I have the view of money that I have? And then you’re going to have to fix it.

Get rid of those limiting beliefs we tell ourselves. Change your mindset revolving around money because until you do that, those issues are going to continue to follow you. You’re going to continue to struggle and you’re not going to grow. So, I want to give you a few affirmations that you might be able to use to start on that path.

If you struggle with your money mindset take some of these and use them. Say them out loud, so your ears can hear them

>> I am worthy of making money and being successful << >> I am grateful to have more than I need so I’m able to give << >> Money comes to me easily and I have everything I need << >> I am amazing at what I do and I deserve to be paid << >> I am worthy of high-ticket prices << >> By charging for my services I am able to help more people << Did this article speak to you?
