“Motivation” is killing your progress. That’s right, you heard me…
I get asked all of the time how I’m always so motivated and I always answer the same… I’m always disciplined. You see, the thing is, most people confuse the two - Motivation and Discipline. They think that in order to do something or to do something well, they need motivation. But really, it’s the other way around.
Motivation - I’m talking about the true, lasting kind. The kind that sees your dream of owning your own business while working at a pawn shop. To making multiple six-figures and running a team of 10, that only comes with discipline.
Sure, you can find motivation in something new and exciting, but what happens once that luster wears off? When you've worked 11 hours 4 days in a row and there’s still one more day till the weekend…Discipline.
Only discipline will finish those final updates your client asked for in the 11th hour of the project. Only discipline will answer all those emails everyone is waiting to get back, nd only discipline will carry you through the day and make sure you’re doing all those little things you need to experience real growth in your business.
But let me tell you a little secret. Nothing in the whole wide world is as motivating as a raving review from your happy client - when their project is done to perfection Nothing is more motivating than reaching your first, second, third $100k mark in your business. Cause all those little things you did began to add up. And nothing is more motivating than feeling proud of yourself after you pushed through that last day of work, and you tied up those loose ends, and now you get to relax all weekend.
So, the next time you feel like you’re unmotivated, just remember - discipline creates motivation, not the other way around.
